Swallow kites are stable fliers and a traditional Beijing design. The wings, tail, and body
provide act as a canvas for many colourful designs. The kite in the top left is decorated in the
standard pattern for most swallow kites, bats signifying good fortune.
These large kites are hand painted silk on bamboo frames, and can be broken down into five
parts. Many designs are one-offs, but can be made again if the original has been sold.
